On being behind 11-1 in the first game…

We really wanted to stay positive and stick to the fundamentals. We wanted to back each other up. No game is ever over. As long as you never give up you can always come back.

On the big play from Bridget Clark…

Those three blocks in a row really got the team pumped up. It was really a momentum swinger. Then, freshman Maddie White hit a couple good serves in a row. I don’t really want to put words in the another team’s mouth but I believe the second game really lifted our spirits and took the wind out of their sails.

The team playing better as the match went on…

I think we got in a groove as the game went on. We got more comfortable and in the flow of the game. We kind of compounded our errors in the beginning. We are a very good team with a lot of talent but once those fundamentals go out the door, we start to shoot ourselves in the foot. We have a saying ‘Better the Ball.’ It means if you make a bad pass, make the next set or hit better. That is the philosophy we try to stick by.

On making three straight blocks in one rally…

When that happened we were all pretty excited. We have been focusing on how to block and the timing of it. Today it showed. I think we all started to focus a bit more when that happened. We knew we were better than when we started the game. We had a much better defense and offense then what we first showed. We always want to get good sets on offense and be ready to block on defense.

On a slow start in all three sets…

We have a tendency to start off slow but we know when to pick it up. We were very focused and determined to win this game.
