Stranded runners haunt Point Boro in 4-1 loss to Matawan‎

April 2, 2011

Today at Point Boro High School, the Panthers fell short to Matawan High School, 4-1. Point Boro had many opportunities to take the lead but they left 10 runners on base throughout the game.

Senior shortstop Jimmy DiOrio had two doubles and first baseman Dan Gahr hit two singles. The only RBI for the Panthers came in the fifth inning when second baseman Deven Delpriore was walked with the bases loaded. The Panthers loaded the bases in the 7th inning but could not come up with the big hit to pull ahead or tie the game.

For Matawan, right fielder Justin Hartnett hit an RBI double and Joe Urciouli and Dan Incle brought runners to home plate on RBI singles.
